Small tweaks. Big changes!

When I was a young player trying to figure out how to score lower, I remember being really annoyed with 3-putting. To me 3-putting was the most wasted opportunity for a lower score, and my attitude about that hasn’t changed.

It wasn’t unusual for me to have three or four 3-putts per round. Whatever I shot, I thought to myself “oh, that could have been four shots less, easily.” This kind of thinking was highly motivating for me. So I started to work on every aspect of my putting to avoid 3-putting.

One of the easiest things you can do to improve your putting is to have a routine. A routine has a certain order to it, and I have seen many golfers over the years messing it up. I don’t want this to be you!

First, you need to figure out the break of the putt and make a decision where to aim. This sounds simple enough, but I meet too many golfers who change their mind (or make up their mind) when they are standing over the ball. Some golfers just hit and hope! This strategy won’t work in the long run.

Read the putt prior to setting up, decide where you want to hit it, step up to the ball and GO. If you stand too long over the ball, you will start to second-guess yourself.

In this video, I go through my routine. If you don’t know where to start, copy what I do and your own unique routine will develop over time.

All the best,

Rebecka
